Remembrance Day
North Norfolk MP Steff Aquarone has reflected on the meaning of Remembrance Day, saying that ‘we must vote for peace at every opportunity we get’. Mr. Aquarone attended a host of Remembrance Day events in North Norfolk over the weekend, laying wreaths at Sheringham as well as North Walsham, where he also spoke at the Civic Service.
Steff Aquarone, North Norfolk MP, said: “Remembrance Day is important for different people for different reasons. We of course remember the wars of the past, and their victims, but also all victims of war, conflict and violence that is happening today.
One of the things that I have been reminded of, is that peace is hard earned.
At the moment we are hearing all the time about ongoing suffering in South Sudan, the Middle East, Russia and the Ukraine.
The people that gain are the ones that never actually face the field. It’s those powerful people that start wars. It’s incumbent on us to do what we can in our small way to ensure that peace is the thing that we vote for and that we choose when we get the opportunity.”
